Homemade Coconut Butter
Homemade Coconut Butter Recipe

Only 1 ingredient needed - this one's for all coconut-lovers

Course: Side Dish
Keywords: Coconut Butter, Coconut Recipe
Servings: 750 grams
Ingredients
  • 750 grams fine desiccated coconut *See Note (IMPORTANT!)
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt (optional)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
  1. If using a food processor - Add the coconut to the bowl fitted with the standard or multipurpose blade and process for 12-20 minutes, or until the coconut has broken down into a warm, thick liquid consistency. Add your optional extras if using and pulse a few times to incorporate them.

  2. If using a Vitamix (or similar - must have a tamper to work) - Add the coconut to the blender bowl (must be at least 3/4 full) and use the tamper to push it down while blending for approximately 1-2 minutes until it becomes a thick liquid consistency. Add your optional extras if using and pulse a few times to incorporate them.

Recipe Notes

* It's important that you use the right amount of coconut according to your food processor - mine is a 14 cup capacity, and I found 750g to be the most ideal amount to easily create the butter. If yours is only an 8 cup capacity, try it with 450g coconut instead... you get the idea (this might have you calling on your primary school maths skills ;)
